Biosafety classification is based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their facilities comply with biosafety regulations for their own country.
23 ScCr is a bone marrow derived macrophage cell line developed from a mouse strain with a deletion of the TLR4 locus.
Antigen Expression
CD11a, mouse; Mus musculus
CD11b, mouse; Mus musculus
F4/80, mouse
Genes Expressed
Macrophage inflammatory protein-2
tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha)
Cellular Products
Macrophage inflammatory protein-2
tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha)
Comments
The cell line is deficient in toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Stimulation with lipoteichoic acid (LTA) induces a five to six fold increase in tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) secretion. No increases in either cytokine were found when cells were stimulated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS).
Complete Growth Medium
Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium with 4 mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate and 4.5 g/L glucose, 70%; fetal bovine serum, 10%; LADMAC Conditioned Media (produced from the LADMAC cell line (CRL-2420), 20%
Subculturing
Remove 75% of the media. Scrape off the attached cells. Resuspend cells at 2 x 105 viable cells/mL. Transfer into new flasks.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cryopreservation
Complete growth medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
Culture Conditions
Temperature: 37°C
Atmosphere: Air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%
Name of Depositor
E Lorenz
Deposited As
Mus musculus
